　　Niu Han, born in October 1923 in Shanxi, is of Mongol nationality. He was educated in Shaanxi-Gansu area from middle school to college. In 1940 he had his works published, mainly in poetry. In the last decade he was obsessed with writing prose. He has had more than 10 collections of poems, 7 collections of essays, and 2 collections of poetic criticisms published. In recent years Selections of Poems by Niu Han were published in South Korea and Japan. He has been engaged in literary editing for half a century, and has been Editor-in-Chief of Historical Materials of New Literature for 20 years. And now he is senior Editor-Reader of People抯 Literature Publishing House, Honorary Committee Member of Chinese Writers Association, and Vice Chairman of China Poetry Society.

　　牛汉诗歌研讨会日前在廊坊市隆重举行，研讨会由中国当代文学研究会等单位共同举办。有关方面负责人：高洪波、张炯，刘玉山、吴思敬、张同吾等出席开幕式，并发表讲话，对研讨会的召开表示祝贺，对老诗人牛汉的人格和诗歌艺术成就，表达了充分的崇敬和肯定。

　　牛汉是我国著名诗人，也是“七月诗派”的代表诗人之一。参加这次诗歌研讨会的屠岸、邵燕祥、杨匡汉等四十余位专家、学者、教授和诗人，围绕他的人生和诗歌之路，从他诗歌的现代性、真挚的生命情感、灵魂对苦难的超越与升华，以及悲慨硬朗的艺术风格等方面，进行了热烈而深入的研讨。

SEMINAR ON POEMS BY NIU HAN HELD IN LANGFANG

　　A grand seminar on poems by Niu Han was held earlier in Langfang City, the seminar was co-sponsored by China Contemporary Literature Research Academy and other institutions. People responsible in parties concerned as follows: Gao Hongbo, Zhang Jiong, Liu Yushan, Wu Sijing, and Zhang Tongwu was present the opening ceremony and delivered a speech, congratulating on the opening of the seminar, expressing adequate exaltation and recognition of Niu Han, the old poet's personality and his accomplishments in poetry creation.

　　Niu Han is a well-known poet in China, and one of the representative poets of 'July Poet School'. over fourty experts, scholars, professors and poets like Tu An, Shao Yanxiang, and Yang Kuanghan present the seminar undertook fervent and in-depth discussion on the modern style of his poetry, sincere passion of life, sublimation and overlooking of sufferings by soul, and the sentimental but tough artistic style, focusing on his path of life and poetry.
