SILVER WEDDING
Without knowing it, we have traversed
a long and
yet short period of a quarter of a century.
A couple of talking ants notice this on the plain
on the west coast of the Pacific.
Just because we know how to work our brain,
So we were made to be parted more often than
reunited.
As we can sing, so we have written prose, but less
poems.
My easy going way becomes part of your
character;
While your capriciousness becomes my temper.
They are all trivial likes and dislikes,
And they are our treasured secrets.
We are like a couple of ants, in life
and in dreams.
A small path zigzags to the place before the light.
Our life enrolls itself along the path,
Crawling into the memory of our children.
Composed in Jan. 1982,
selected from "Years and Tide and Wine"
